GAF Construction in Ontario, CA | Moreno Valley Builders
We’re an independent General Contractor – Ontario GAF roofing crew, not a manufacturer-authorized dealer. That means we install and repair GAF systems without a sales quota driving the recommendation. The one thing that makes our GAF work different in Ontario is that we know which roof planes the Santa Ana winds punish first, and we scope the job to match what actually failed, not what a checkbox says to replace. Call (877) 752-3154 for a free roof assessment.
Why Ontario Residents Choose Us for GAF Service
Two decades of tear-offs in the Inland Valley wind corridor teaches you things a product catalog can’t. We know how GAF Timberline HDZ holds up on a 1960s stucco ranch in 91762 versus a newer infill build in 91764. We know when a Liberty SBS low-slope lap opens from UV bake, and when it’s been scoured by dust off the Cajon/Cucamonga corridor. That local read, paired with strict OEM-compatible GAF parts, is what keeps our phone ringing. Noel Trevino, our owner and GC, grew up in the Sunnymead Ranch area of Moreno Valley and has been tearing off and re-roofing homes across the Inland Empire for the better part of three decades. He runs our GAF work the same way he runs every trade: if the details aren’t right on paper, they won’t be right in the wall. Or on the roof. We cover the full Ontario service area, including 91762, 91764, 91798, and 91758.

Common GAF Construction Problems We Solve in Ontario
- Wind-lifted and creased tabs on ridges and rakes. The 1950s and 60s tract homes in Ontario were often nailed sparse on the original 3-tab or early architectural shingle. When a Santa Ana wind event hits, those tabs lift along the ridge line and rake edges, especially on homes built with their ridge running east-west. We re-fasten to GAF’s enhanced nailing spec and replace the lifted field with Timberline HDZ.
- Granule loss on west- and north-facing slopes. Wind-driven grit off the Cajon/Cucamonga corridor acts like sandpaper on shingle surfaces. A roof that looks fine from the street often has windward planes that have lost most of their granule layer, which accelerates UV degradation and shortens the shingle’s life. We see this pattern constantly in Ontario, and it’s a classic partial-scope repair candidate.
- Attic-vent and plumbing-boot infiltration. Blowing dust packs into every penetration, and then 100°F+ attic heat bakes that dust into the boot collar and underlayment until they crack. A hairline crack in a plumbing boot lets water in every time it rains, and the dust makes it hard to spot until you see the ceiling stain. We inspect every boot and vent collar on every GAF roof we touch in Ontario.
- Flash-membrane and valley failures on Liberty low-slope sections. Additions and detached garages over Ontario’s original ranch homes often have low-slope sections done in Liberty SBS. The issue is UV exposure: those self-adhered laps bake in the inland sun until they open at the seams. It’s not a product defect, it’s biology plus UV. We re-lap, re-seal, and when the deck is gone, we re-deck.
- Leeward slopes that look fine but hide deck rot. The windward planes fail visibly, but the leeward slopes can trap moisture against the deck under intact shingles. By the time the shingles look bad, the deck underneath is sponge. This is why we don’t quote a re-roof over the phone. We get on the roof and read the deck. Always.
GAF Service in Ontario: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Ontario’s 1950s – 60s stucco ranches in 91761, 91762, and 91764 were built with their west- and north-facing walls and roof planes fully exposed to the Santa Ana wind funnel off the Cajon/Cucamonga area, so on those houses the prevailing-wind slopes chalk, crack, and lose granules years before the leeward slopes do. That means a GAF service in Montclair or Ontario re-roof is often a partial-scope decision: windward planes plus ridge and rake detailing, while the rest of the roof is still serviceable. In the mid-century tract blocks off Euclid Avenue in 91762, our crew tore off a 1960s ranch roof where the west-facing planes had lost most of their granules and three ridge caps had lifted after a Santa Ana event, while the east planes were still intact. We re-decked the windward slope, installed GAF Timberline HDZ with Pro-Start starter and Seal-A-Ridge on the hips and ridge, and upgraded the fastening to a high-wind pattern on the exposed planes, leaving the leeward slope and its sound underlayment in place to keep the scope honest. That’s the kind of call you only learn to make after enough tear-offs in this specific wind corridor.
GAF Models & Products We Service in Ontario
We work with the full residential and light-commercial GAF lineup: Timberline HDZ and UHDZ architectural shingles for sloped roofs, Liberty SBS self-adhered membrane for low-slope sections over additions and detached garages, and EverGuard TPO for flat and low-slope warehouse/flex sections that are common along Ontario’s newer industrial spine. We use GAF-manufactured underlayment, starter, ridge cap, and vent accessories so the system stays a matched GAF assembly rather than a shingle field over mismatched parts. Where a homeowner’s deck or flashing is failing, we fix that first instead of selling a re-roof that hides a leak. If a repair is honest for another 5 – 8 years, we say so. GAF shingles over a bad deck or rusted flashing just delay a bigger bill. For the full scope of what we offer, see GAF sales & service.

AfterGAF Service Pricing in Ontario
Here’s what GAF work runs in Ontario, based on our recent jobs. Every roof is different, but these ranges hold up across the 91762, 91764, 91798, and 91758 ZIP codes.
| Service | Price Range |
|---|---|
| Roof Replacement & Installation (GAF shingle re-roof) | $8,000 – $20,000 |
| Roof Repair | $400 – $1,800 |
What moves the number? Deck condition, roof pitch, how many windward planes are involved, access, and whether you’re on a 1950s ranch with original skip sheathing or a newer build with solid OSB. A partial windward-scope job falls at the low end of the replacement range. A full tear-off with re-decking and high-wind fastening on a two-story GAF repair in Chino or Ontario house pushes toward the high end. Your free estimate includes a written line-item quote, no change orders unless you change the scope, and a straight answer on whether repair or replacement is the honest call. Call (877) 752-3154 to schedule an inspection.

FAQs – GAF Construction in Ontario
We can do partial-scope work when it’s the right call, and in Ontario it often is. If your windward planes have lost granules and lifted tabs but the leeward slope and deck are sound, we’ll quote the windward planes plus ridge and rake detailing, not a whole re-roof. That said, if the deck underneath is rotting or the underlayment is compromised, we’ll tell you to replace it all. We won’t hide a failing deck under new GAF shingles. Call (877) 752-3154 and we’ll get on the roof and read it.
For most of Ontario’s mid-century tract homes, Timberline HDZ is the best balance of wind performance, cost, and weight. Tile is heavy and those 1950s and 60s roofs weren’t framed for the load without reinforcement. Metal can be excellent but it’s a different budget tier. On a low-slope addition or detached garage, Liberty SBS is often the answer. We’ll give you the straight read based on your deck, pitch, and exposure, not on what’s easiest to sell.
Wind-driven dust and grit from the Santa Ana corridor accelerates granule loss, which is a wear issue, not a manufacturing defect. GAF’s warranty covers manufacturing defects, not Acts of nature or environmental wear. What we do is install to GAF’s enhanced nailing spec and use GAF-matched accessories, which keeps the system within the manufacturer’s installation requirements so the warranty remains valid. If you want a roof that holds up to Ontario’s specific conditions, nail pattern matters more than shingle color.
Usually yes, but we’ll need to check the deck and the low-slope transition first. Converted garages in Ontario often have a low-slope section that was done years ago with the wrong membrane, and that’s where water gets in. We’ll inspect the Liberty or TPO condition, the flashing at the transition, and the deck underneath. If the structure is sound, we can reroof over it and tie it into the main GAF roof properly.
It changes the fastening pattern and the scope more than the shingle model. GAF Timberline HDZ is rated for high-wind zones when installed per GAF’s enhanced nailing spec, but on Ontario’s windward slopes we upgrade the nailing pattern and re-seal the ridge and rake edges with Pro-Start and Seal-A-Ridge. The wind here doesn’t usually rip the shingle apart. It finds the weak fastening and starts peeling. We build for that.
